Ma. Pilar “Charmaine” Malata

Associate Professor Charmaine Malata is currently the Head of the Office of Research at the College of Medicine of West Visayas State University in Iloilo City, Philippines. She has Master’s degrees in Pharmacology and Public Health (Epidemiology) and got her PhD in Education (Psychology and Guidance) in 2020. She has been teaching research and public health classes, and mentoring public health undergraduate and medical students for the past 24 years. Her current research interests and speaking engagements are on understanding non-suicidal self-injury and suicide among adolescents, self-injury protocol and training of high school teachers and staff.
