Biography
Dr. Khoury’s research focuses on clinical, social, and cognitive applications of mindfulness and compassion. His work also involves examining the process, outcomes, and effectiveness of mindfulness and compassion-based treatments. His current research program is primarily concentrated on investigating the effects of comprehensive mindfulness and compassion education program on the health and well-being of counselling/psychology trainees, the symptoms of their clients, and the therapeutic process. In addition, his research involves investigating the feasibility and effectiveness of mindfulness and compassion -based interventions for specific populations (e.g., self-injury, schizophrenia, borderline patients, and forensic population). The principal goal of his research is to improve the health, well-being, and functioning of clinical and non-clinical populations via the development, implementation, and validation of effective meditation programs and mindfulness-based treatments. Dr. Khoury conducted his doctoral research at Université de Montréal and his postdoctoral research at Harvard University and McGill University. He is a clinical psychologist with a specialization in mindfulness-based treatments (clinical license: Ordre des Psychologues du Québec).
